Welcome, I’m Evey.

I love my work helping clients achieve better health.  I was drawn to this career path through my own personal journey back to wellness.

My Story

In my forties, I was the one suffering from nagging back and hip pain when I started my day, when I walked, and when I exercised.  My energy levels were at an all-time low.  I drank 3 to 4 cups of coffee just to get through my day. I relied on afternoon sugary snacks to keep me going. And my thoughts were foggy; at times I even had trouble focusing. I had stomach upset that led to digestive problems. I took all of this for granted as part of my day-to-day life.

I thought this was just the aging process! In fact, my doctors all told me to accept the way I was feeling and could only offer me medications to help reduce my symptoms.  That was their solution to my problems.

Unwilling to accept this as my fate, I started looking for alternative solutions to my growing list of health issues.

Luckily, I was referred to a holistic practitioner by a friend who helped me understand that the foods I was eating  and some lifestyle habits were causing a defensive inflammatory response in my body and that was causing many of my symptoms.

Zest for Life:  Adopting an Anti-Inflammatory Way to Eat

I began my own personal journey to wellness by switching to a nutritious whole food diet and making small healthy lifestyle changes. I got back into the kitchen and began experimenting with different food preparations.  I explored different theories of healthy eating. I experimented with many of the current diet plans such as the Alkaline Diet, Eating for Your Blood Type, Candida Diet, and Paleo Diet.

I finally realized there was a common thread in all these “diets.” They all had me eating nutritious whole foods instead of packaged prepared foods. I began to embrace the philosophy that “food is medicine” and choose foods that sustained my health instead of contributing to early aging.

At first it was a challenge to find new foods to replace my sugary snacks, but in the process, my tastebuds were changing.  I began to appreciate flavors like never before – the true sweetness of a raspberry or watermelon, for example.  As I learned about their nutritional benefits, I was encouraged to try new ways to prepare foods too.  I bought a dehydrator, slow cooker, and high-speed blender.  I experimented with fermenting vegetables.”

And things changed for me.

Having changed the foods I was eating and improving some of my lifestyle habits I began feeling SO MUCH BETTER!

Very soon I was waking up pain-free and stayed that way. I stopped relying on caffeine to get me going and found I had new energy. I was able to replace my sugary snacks with healthy naturally sweet alternatives and felt satisfied. Other people started commenting on how glowing my skin looked and how much better I appeared.  It caught me by surprise to realize I’d lost that stubborn puffy look and that my midriff muffin-top bulge was gone. I even noticed (dare I say it) I stopped passing gas as frequently.  Another by-product of inflammation that disappeared.  I had a NEW ZEST FOR LIFE!

Seeing the remarkable changes that can occur, I became passionate about helping others achieve the same results.  Today I feel more energetic, confident, and fitter than I have in decades. I feel good about who I am, and in many ways I feel younger than I did when I started this journey.

My goal is to now serve as a guide for my clients to achieve this same transition without the trial and error that I had to go through when I was learning everything on my own.

My Philosophy to Aging Better and Feeling Younger

Good health is the path to aging better and feeling younger [this comment seems obvious.  The question is what is the path to good health]

My approach is different than most conventional nutritionists. My goal is to have you stop focusing on calories, carbs, fats, and/or proteins; creating endless lists of foods for you to avoid; or denying yourself the things you love through adhering to onerous restrictions.

Instead, I work with you to reach your specific health goals in a way that is flexible, fun, and rewarding. I help you develop a deeper understanding of the food and lifestyle choices that work best for you.  I enable you to adopt lasting changes that will improve your overall energy, balance, and health for you to experience greater happiness and wellbeing.
