Naked Kale Chips

Prep Notes

Wash and dry kale before cooking!  Dry kale will crisp up better in the oven.

Curly kale works well for this, but feel free to use lacinato or other variety.  Each has its own flavor, texture and color.

Ingredients

1 bunch curly kale

1-2 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil

1/4-1/2 tsp salt

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F.
  2. Wash and remove stems from kale.  Dry well.
  3. Place kale in bowl.  Add oil and salt.  Using hands, massage the kale until it wilts a little.
  4. Lay kale out in a thin layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment papaer.
  5. Place tray in oven and bake 15-20 minutes or until the "chips" are crispy but not burned.  Turn leaves once or twice until they are crispy but not burned.
  6. Remove from oven and transfer to cooling rack.  Let cool a fe mnutes

Notes

Try adding your own spices and ingredients to make a variety of snacking options!  Some suggestions might be parmesan cheese, cayenne, paprika, cumin.  Or for a sweeter twist, add cinnamon and a natural sweetener.
